Once dubbed one of L.A.’s best kept secrets, Renee Spearman, PreZ and Prosperity have gained national exposure with their debut release "Celebrate" produced by Grammy Award nominated and Stellar Award winning Kenny Smith.
In 2001, Renee Spearman and PreZ formed BlackSphere Entertainment and released their debut CD "Celebrate" the following year. "Celebrate" peaked at #22 on BillBoard’s Top Gospel Album Charts and remained on the charts for over 35 weeks. As a result of this accomplishment, Renee Spearman and PreZ featuring Prosperity landed on BillBoard’s Year End Top Gospel Album Charts for 2003.
This success is attributed to several adds to gospel radio formats, including national radio syndicates Sheridan Gospel Network- The Light, ABC Networks- Rejoice Radio and Direct TV- Music Choice Channel. Their single "He Can Do Anything" remained on Stevie Wonder owned KJLH FM Top Playlist for over 20 weeks. The single also ascended to #2 on ABC Network- Rejoice Musical SoulFood and #13 on SGN/The Light- Bobby Jones Radio Countdown.
Spearman and PreZ gained much notice with their two concept videos- "Celebrate" and "He Can Do Anything". Both videos have scored airplay on The Word Network and BET and have further strengthened the duo’s position as one of Gospel’s breakout acts.
On February 7, 2004, Renee Spearman and PreZ featuring Prosperity took home the Gospel Music Workshop of America’s Radio Announcer’s Guild Award in the category of Contemporary Choir of the Year. Their CD debut also garnered coveted spots on the following major award ballots- Stellar Awards (Contemporary Group or Duo of the Year, Contemporary Choir of the Year, Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year), Grammy Awards (Best Gospel Album by a Choir or Chorus) and Soul Train Awards (Best Gospel Album).
Spearman and PreZ have worked with today’s hottest gospel and R&B producers- Shep Crawford, Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell, Kurt Carr, Alexander Asaph Ward and Jason White. Spearman and Prosperity provided background vocals on the following Shep Crawford produced tracks " I Believe I Can Fly" with Yolanda Adams and Gerald Levert and "Greatest Love of All" with Gladys Knight. PreZ provided background vocals on Warryn Campbell produced "Thankful" by MaryMary, Kurt Carr produced "Awesome Wonder" by the Kurt Carr Singers, Alexander Asaph Ward produced "Dorinda-Live in Detroit" with Dorinda Clark-Cole and Jason White produced "Nobody But You" with Norman Hutchins.
The duo, along with Prosperity have opened up for Richard Smallwood and Vision and thrilled audiences at the world famous House of Blues, Bobby Jones International Artist Retreat at the MGM Grand and Venetian Hotel, Church of God In Christ A.I.M Convention (background for Karen Clark-Sheard) at LA Convention Center, WNBA Game at the infamous Staple Center, "A Tribute to Arnold Schwarzenegger" at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Gospel Celebrations at Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland.
