"The husky voiced Toronto native is leading the attentive players in a rehearsal of one of her earthy mid tempo songs, creating a confident, flavorful groove redolent of Woodstock-era Band and Van Morrison." (Los Angeles Times, Richard Cromelin)
"This artist has a strong knack for crafting upbeat pop songs. As a vocalist, Williamson is no slouch creating a somewhat breathy Joan Osborne-like tone. A voice well suited to her material."
-Music Connection Magazine
"Diana Williamson sings crossover-ready AAA in a confident voice with an edgy rasp. Arrangements effectively bridge the gap between mainstream country and modern mix radio with subtly polished professionalism."
-Listen.com
Diana’s mix of pop, blues, folk and roots rock has drawn comparisons to Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne, Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin.
She’s flying high with a #3 song on the Billboard Breakout Club Dance charts for a song she wrote for EMI dance artist, Sasha Lazard. The single "Awakening" was remixed by Delirium (known for their hits with Sarah McLachlan). Her 2nd cut on the album "Temptation", was featured in Warner Brother’s "Queen of the Damned". It’s like a modern day "Enigma" with tribal beats. Also climbing the charts to #13 first week out, was Diana’s song "Falling" for Warner Brother artist Judith Lefeber, cowritten with hitmaker to the stars Narada Michael Walden (Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin) and producer Florian Richter.
She was voted one of the top demos of the year by Music Connection, won bronze medal for Original Song at The World Championship of Performing Arts, Song of the Day at garageband.com, the Sennheiser Band finals, and received an honorable mention at the John Lennon songwriting contest. As well, she’s been nominated at the Just Plain Folks Awards, Global Resource and L.A. Music Awards. Her music is playing on radio stations around the country from Chicago, Virginia to Los Angeles.
Diana studied with top Canadian poets Eli Mandel and b.p. Nicol, as well as devouring every book Leonard Cohen ever wrote. After winning a gov’t. "Factor" grant for her first music demo, Diana starting merging the two mediums.
Cowriting with top writers like John Capek (Rod Stewart), Marc Tanner (Aerosmith, Shawn Colvin), Barry Coffing (no#1 "How do you talk to an Angel"), etc. "has been a great challenge and inspiration!" Diana’s placed songs in over 10 feature films and 6 tv shows. As well as cowriting the single off blue’s artist Jimmy Rip (Mick Jagger’s guitarist for solo work) debut album, which was also featured on HOB’s "Hot Biscuit" compilation.
A devout people watcher, you can find her in cafes, or on the stage in some little hideaway, polishing up her new songs, before she shows them to the world.
