Dan began performing and writing music while a student at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He later enrolled at Bostonâs Berklee College of Music to study guitar and songwriting. While at Berklee, Dan was the recipient of the schoolâs top songwriting award, the Scott Benson Scholarship. He was also the top vote-getter in the Berklee Songwriter Competition, a winner of the the Performer/Songwriter Contest, and a featured artist at the Songwriter Showcase held at the Berklee Performance Center.

Since graduating from Berklee in 2003, Dan has performed at Boston area venues such as Club Passim and the Bitter End, and has toured the east coast, midwest, and southern United States. His self-titled debut album has received regular radio play on many midwest and east coast stations, including Bostonâs folk radio station, WUMB 91.9. Out of over 50,000 titles available on cdbaby.com, this record was a top 100 seller for the month of February, 2004. More recently, one of Danâs songs was featured on NPRâs All Songs Considered.

Danâs 2006 release, Public Square, features his newest songs in their purest form. The sparse instrumental arrangements on Public Square, two acoustic guitars, serve to emphasize each story, each message, and each word.

In addition to performing and working on his second release, Dan Gonzalez has initiated the Columbus Day Gift Project. This project raises funds through the sale of Danâs song Columbus Day. All profits from the sale of this recording are gifted to organizations committed to education for social justice.
