Actual Birds is the nom de plume/art/musique of Ann Arbor, MI resident Dustin Krcatovich. As of this writing, he has released two full-length albums under this moniker, as well as a handful of EPs, cassettes, motivational posters, trading cards, etc. On musical projects, he is frequently assisted by Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good To Me, Flashpapr, solo); you can usually tell when Thomas is helping, due to the fact that it usually kind of sounds better. Actual Birds’ favorite colors are green and yellow, his favorite food to experience in as many different cities as possible is the burrito (although that can be a dangerous thing to attempt on the road… always travel with a burrito guide!), and his current favorite singers are Daniel Johnston, Albert Ayler, Kelly Jean Caldwell, Pharrell Williams, and Exciters lead singer Brenda Reid (utilized to excellent effect in the early ’60s girl group hit “Tell Him”).
SOME NICE THINGS SAID ABOUT ACTUAL BIRDS MUSIC:
“Comes from a place where the current freakfolk scene intersects with noise, and the result is whimsical, disorienting and often thrilling.”
“Easily one of the ten best Ann Arbor albums in 2005, The Sky Is Full Of Ghosts is varied and charming, weird and comfortable- and recommended.”
“…unleashed a sound that is perhaps matched only by the nightmares and/or daydreams of small children and/or terrifying monsters.”

“This band does not appear to have any actual birds in it.”
-Eastern Echo (Eastern Michigan University student newspaper)
"Sadly after their set there was a small group of girls doting upon the front man."
