Vocalist, Marie Alexandre, has performed jazz, funk, latin and commerical music in the South Florida and Chicago areas since the 1980’s. But her first love remains as always--jazz!

"I’ve been mostly influenced by instrumentalists, though I’ve often been compared to Betty (Carter), Sarah (Vaughn) and Ella (Fitzgerald). Let’s me know I’m getting the ’sound’ I want."

"My most humbling experience was an article in the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel (Friday, February 27, 1981, Nightlife Section). Ray Recchi, the jazz music critic at the time, wrote an column entitled "An Unknown Talent You Should Know About."

In the article Ray describe stopping by the Bushwhacker one Tuesday night: ’...her voice has that thick, silken texture typical of so many of the good jazz vocalists of past and present. Her intonation is excellent, allowing her to pick a note our of the air if she wants.....the best quality about Alexandre is her musicality. She not only knows the music but obviously loves it...’The humbling part of the article was that fact that above it, accompanied by a wonderful half page picture was another article about a jazz vocalist who happen to be appearing in town that week--TONY BENNETT. "
