The Quiet One and The Lonely One is a combination of haunting melodies contrasted with fierce emotional punk rock changes. The band began writing the songs for the album two years ago, and it demonstrates Beija Florâs ability both as accomplished musicians but also as astute song writers. Their lyrics read like poetry and embody a simple primal essence of lifeâs experience.
There is an element of childlike story telling in some of Beija Florâs songs. The track titled âMiss Mayâ, Beija Flor tells the story of a woman driven mad by loneliness after the loss of her husband. She begins stealing the townâs children for comfort and affection. The song strikes a familiar chord of alarm, childhood nursery rhymes, which like Beija Flor have an air of eeriness.
