Big Leg Emma is a six member Americana Folk Roots Rock band from Jamestown, New York. The band’s tour schedule has lead them from the scenic hills of Western New York to the Great Northeast, the Midwest, "Deep" South, the Florida Keys, and all points in between.

Big Leg Emma is a nationally touring act that creates their music on feel, vibe, and deep hearted lyrics. BLE has built a strong following in the festival circuit sharing stages with Rusted Root, 10,000 Maniacs, Gin Blossoms, The Sam Bush Band, The Wailers, Keith Anderson, Los Lobos, and Donna the Buffalo to name a few.

The band is comprised of six creative and versatile musicians. Steve Johnson (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar) leads BLE with fiery folk songs and deep hearted lyrics. Amanda Barton (fiddle, vocals) with her smoking hot fiddle playing and heart felt vocals, Charity Nuse (vocals, mandolin, percussion) with her soulful rhythmic feel, Charity will keep your feet moving all night, Tom Hodges (lead electric guitar, mandolin) with his lead guitar and mandolin flare, Tom woes every crowd that he performs for, Steve French (bass guitar) with his solid funky bass lines, Steve will make you feel the funk all night long, Rad Akers (drums) all the way from Decatur, IL, brings a solid yet dynamic touch to fill everything in and give BLE the fun HOE-DOWN beat that BLE is known for.

The band is out in support of their latest release "The Color of Wind" which can be heard nationally on Folk Alley. Big Leg Emma has grown in many positive, professional and personal ways over the last few years. The band will be on tour in a town near you. See Ya All On The Dance Floor !!!

What They Say About Emma.......

"The Color of Wind" may have some heavy country influence but it isn’t that down home pickin’ and grinnin’ twang that original country blues sounds like. This is infused with elements of rock similar to (Eagles and The Flying Burrito Brothers) Actually when the ladies kick in, early Linda Ronstadt and Stone Ponies come to mind."

"Big Leg Emma turned in a mind-blowing set of zesty, blazing roots music when they opened for ’Little Feat’ at Celebrate Erie in August 04’. Its Amazing their fiddle doesn’t spontaneously combust, they play so hard, so furiously. Their feel-good, warm -as-a-fireplace, harmony-laden tunes achieve a transcendence that perhaps only ’Donna the Buffalo’ can match in jam-band land. This is the kind of group you need only hear once and then you’re a fan for life. They’ve got it!"

"Big Leg Emma" definitely has their roots in bluegrass & country music. The crowd was growing and was the biggest I’ve ever seen in front of the stage at noon on a Saturday.

Andy Shepherd (Homegrown Network)

"At a recent show at Tribecca Blues in NYC, Big Leg Emma performed for a crowd of fans. The girls, Amanda Barton and Charity Nuse, crooned like angels and played their buts off on their respective instruments, fiddle and mandolin. A blend of Celtic rock and folk created a warm and loving atmosphere and was most memorable. A little Spanish song, "The Mexican Song" (aka "Pedro’s Last Stand"), was most appealing and is ripe for licensing for television and film placement. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and was quite surprised at the musical expertise of that young band. The fusion of genres is original and beautifully done. The female presence in the band was refreshing and created an illusion of spirits rising above the heavens."

Melinda Gedman - MTV Music Producer / Talent Scout

"With the current climate of hardcore music fans in the jamband scene, BLE now has an audience to deliver its unique traditionally influenced sound. I would watch to see where they will go in the future. I enjoy the strong vocal harmonies and bluegrass instrumentation. There is a place for mandolin and violin in contemporary music and BLE has carved an original, yet familiar, traditional sound."

Dana Cannone - Tour Manager for Rusted Root

"They have a tight grip on what roots music is all about and the talent to deliver it. I love this band!"

David Tidquist - Great Blue Heron Music Festival / Sherman, NY

"The joy music pours out of them, they play with purity and genuineness that’s as palpable as a summer breeze. Fans feel the love and send it back."

Dave Richards - Erie Times / Erie, PA

"Amanda Barton’s fiddle work is precise and professional. Charity Nuse and Barton’s vocals blend beautifully creating intoxicating harmonies.........My favorite track was BLE’s fun, reggae meets bluegrass cover of Steve Miller’s "The Joker". I really hope local radio picks up this track. These local musicians deserve all the attention that they’ve been getting."

Michael Salamone - from BLE’s "Gramma Don’t Like That" C.D. review in WORD Magazine / Jamestown, NY

"I have seen many bands come and go, some have been fun and others not so. But, never have I ever seen a band able to get crowd response like "BIG LEG" (that’s what I like to call them) when they take the stage the crowd can’t help but take the floor, "BIG LEG" gets you moving and feeling good, their music is a natural joy!! The first time I heard them in our studio it hit me at the core, talk about a band that plays to your senses.

Jessie Klarke - WMHU 102 MOO / Jamestown, NY

"This group of young musicians is very versatile and plays a variety of music. They’re moving their music into high gear and spreading their wings. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself saying one day, "I saw them here at in Warren, PA at the Library Theatre!"
