"I know why there is such a shortage of good country songs on the radio. George has them in a box under his bed, and is just now letting some of them loose.
You’re an awesome writer, George, and you have a wonderfully distinctive voice, but I think what I love most about your style is the way you just open up and let it rip, without reservation. When you’re singin’ you ain’t no where else but in the song, and it shows. Thank you for sharing your gift, my friend. I’ll be listening to this cd a lot"
George Delbert was born listening to traditional country music. Many of his earliest memories are of records by Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Merle Haggard and other traditional artist, being played on his mothers stereo. As his mother hung clothes out to dry George would listen to her softly singing along with the legends of country music.
Listening to traditional country music always soothed George’s soul and he dreamt of someday singing songs like those he had heard so many times on his mother’s stereo.
As a child George would make up his own songs. It wasn’t until he saw the movie, "Coal Miner’s Daughter," that he started taking song writing seriously. He remembers vividly in the movie where Loretta Lynn was sitting in a field humming out the first words to her first song. George made up his mind that he too would become a real songwriter. The very first song he wrote was, "Cheatin’ On A Cheater." He sang the song for family and friends who then encouraged him to keep writing songs. This CD is a sampling of songs he has written over the past 20-years.
Not only was George Delbert born and raised on traditional country music but also with heart and soul he writes and sings songs that keep the tradition of country music alive.
