Weitere Informationen vom Distributor:
Golden Ball plays freakbeat post-punk folk rock - literate and hook-laden - in collaged arrangements that spin like mobiles. The group first began in the Pennsylvania woods as a bedroom recording project by David Chadwick with his wife Gillian Chadwick. Upon moving to Philadelphia, the couple met musician and painter Norman Fetter, and after a fateful conversation at the krautrock night at which Norman was DJing, the band’s future began: Norman would join Golden Ball, and the music would have a home in his house - one of the first outposts of the badlands bohemia of Philadelphia’s Fishtown. David and Gillian soon moved in next door, in the same arts compound that has been home to Espers, Fursaxa, Sharron Kraus and Niagara Falls.

The group’s very first show at the Khyber in Philadelphia broke attendence records, and they took off from there. On February 19, 2005 Golden Ball played to a packed house at the Khyber to celebrate the release of their dramatic debut album, The Luxury of Pause, released the same day on Honeymoon Music. The year that has followed has seen the group in a series of headling performances, sharing bills with Michael Gira’s Angels of Light, Akron/Family, Fursaxa, One Long Lash, Kandy Whales, RTX, Early Man, Spinto Band and many other fantastic acts, as well as headlining the Thrilladelphia Music Festival and the Philadelphia Indie Summit. The group was awarded the Philadelphia City Paper 2005 CHOICE Award for "Best Weird Band (Fishtown)" and was also named to the Philadelphia Weekly’s "Class of ’05". The Luxury of Pause was cited in the Philadelphia City Paper’s "Philly’s Best CDs of 2005" top ten list.

Golden Ball has just released a followup single - "Signature Abstract" b/w "Blank", as well as contributing a cover of Espers’ "Voices" to Plain Parade’s just-released Songs from the Sixth Borough compilation, and is currently in the midst of recording a followup to The Luxury of Pause.
