Like rock, blues and "pure" rock’n’roll? Then, you’ll love many of the selections on The Best of KENNY D.
Opening with some "pure" rock’n’roll... "A Good Girl Is So Hard To Find", Kenny then moves to a real up tempo rocker..."Muddy Waters Run Deep" - a song about New Orleans and Katrina that should rock the Gulf Coast states this summer! Then, he offers... "New York City Groove" - a unique song that really captures the tone and tenor of the "Big Apple" in a big way... and even has some of the flavor of Broadway on the track. Maybe... it’s the best song about New York City in over 20 years! See if you agree.
In addition to rock and blues selections on the CD, Kenny put a few inspirational, and Christian rock songs in the mix. One, "Talkin’ ’Bout Love" swells with emotion and style, and a "moody" sitar on the track captures the feel of the "almost mystical" side of our experience in life, something most of us want - to feel, to touch, to know. Notations on the tracks (Chr/rock, or Insp/rock) will identify these selections. Try ’em!
"Hey! Baby" with its gritty, and grinding guitars... is a cute sexy song that everyone will love to dance to. This one might even make "Mick Jaggar" sit down. The vocal is compelling, and just plain... cool! And, the lead guitar... solid and gripping.
Cool sexy stuff? "Slow Lovin’" and "I Wanna Be Your Number One Man" will satisfy "big time!" Kenny D’s rhythms are unique, and also a couple of the best lead guitar players in Tucson are on to keep the music pumping, and pushing forward. But, songs are mostly about lyrics and melody, and a voice that can deliver them. And, it’s all here for you to enjoy.
Blues gems? There are a few here. One, "There Ain’t No Love At Home" depicts a scene... ex-lovers meeting after some or many years, for a "coffee" and there’s some talk about "old and ’almost’ times." Anyone that’s been in a failed relationship, divorced, left, or "been the one to leave" - will relate to either side of this story. It happens everyday across the country and the world. Do you have someone from your past that you might like to have a "sit down" coffee with? Probably "Yes!" The multi-vocal and "chase lines" here... are so unique and make this song one of those "singular" masterpieces writers love to call their own. This is "next level blues" at its best!
"Ain’t Got No Time To Love You Baby" - is "down dirty blues" - truth from the street blues... and some panning effect on the lead guitar makes this song "hauntingly" another one of those "stand outs." If you like blues... yeah... you’ll love this one! It’s moody, lonely... and "sneaky". Other blues songs hit other blue notes. They are wet with life’s experiences. Sample the tracks. There’s a lot here to listen to... and learn from... and then, to just share.
