The Saga of Six Pack Deep
The band 6 Pack Deep hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 6pd has a unique mixture of different musical styles that would delight the senses of any true music lover. Its roots are derived from a bevy of local defunct bands, the major ones being The Krewe and Rye. The horn section of The Krewe (Gered LaCour, Geoff Grice, and Aaron Triche) possessed an innate desire to move toward a more aggressive style of music and thus hooked up with former Rye members Brian Goad (guitar) and Bartt Blanchard
(vocals) in order to satisfy their musical palate. After
attempting Rye covers the general consensus was to write their own originals. Thus, the saga began in earnest.
Unwilling to compromise its musical integrity or be
confined to one musical style, 6 Pack Deep has employed a mix of ska, rock, punk, reggae, and a little rap thrown in for good measure in order to create a sound that is as enlightening as it is original. Despite the name, 6 Pack Deep is a group of dedicated musicians who take their music seriously. On the other hand, a 6 Pack Deep live show is a sight to see, full of high energy with a definite party atmosphere. Their on stage shananagins and goal of rocking people’s faces off has earned them the reputation for being one of the best live acts in the area. After finalizing the lineup, adding bassist Dusty Ballew, vocalist Lyle Robelot and drummer Doug Gay, the band played its first gig at Sogo Lounge, a premier music venue in downtown Baton Rouge. The band began making noise in the local area, playing at Chelsea’s, North Gate Tavern, The Caterie, Cafe Reggae and The Spanish Moon, venues that are renowned for showcasing quality original acts. The band has several gigs lined up in the New Orleans area for the summer. They are also in the works for venturing into neighboring states on weekend tours. Currently 6 Pack Deep is continuing to book gigs
in the area and is also looking to expand its horizons by
establishing roots throughout the region. The band recorded a five-song CD in March which showcases the bands range and music writing ability. Three of those songs
are available for listening on the band’s https://www.tradebit.com page. In addition there was recently a write-up about the band in Louisiana State University’s student newspaper, The Daily Reveille (https://www.tradebit.com -archives- 6 Pack Deep). 6 Pack Deep has and will continue to pump out quality music as well as put on shows that are unrivaled in the area. The saga of 6 Pack Deep is just starting; music will never be the same.
