About Mingo:

Mingo was born and raised in Iowa. In the late 80’s, Mingo and longtime music collaborator DJ Josh Lockey performed throughout the Midwest under various names. Together they created electronic dance music influenced by both the Chicago industrial scene as well as the Manchester acid house sound. In 1992, Mingo and Lockey made the natural progression to the rave scene and formed Sonar Productions, a techno rave promotional group. The group hosted or collaborated on events in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. By the late 1990’s, Mingo and Lockey disbanded Sonar Productions so Lockey could focus on producing house music, while Mingo turned his attention to creating techno-trance. Shortly after disbanding Sonar Productions, Mingo moved to Colorado while his sound progressed more towards the ambient space sound influenced by the Orb and Steve Roach.

After releasing several ep’s and singles, in 2005 Mingo released his first full length ambient CD, "The once and future world" appearing on the Helmetroom Recordings label. In 2006, two previously unreleased CD’s were released; "the floating planet" as well as a collection of electro and dance tracks entitled "monochrome," both appearing on the Sonarweb Communications label.
