LIZ ZORN - THE TRUTH ABOUT ME CD
This stylish debut album by the painter, multi-media artist and poet Liz Zorn was two years in the making. It’s an eclectic mix of folk/blues and adult alternative music that shows the influence of such contemporary songwriters as Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin.
The highly distinctive sound was achieved by meticulously working in layers of guitar and vocals. Rock and country music are fused with blues and jazz to produce a winning brand of Americana.
Standout tracks include Cold Black Night, the bluesy Giddy Up Baby, Knife to the Bone (a spare and brutally honest response to abuse), and the wonderfully plaintive So Long. Expressive vocals throughout, sometimes shaded with echo and ambient sounds, take the listener on an emotional journey filled with delightful surprises.
Liz Zorn the Truth About Me
Stellar production peppers "The Truth About Me" and gives it a hearty shake, making you just shake your head in amazement at Liz Zorn’s skills. Not only did she record the album and write it, but she also sang and played guitar. And in a day and age where Elton John berates madonna over her so-called live performance, this kind of talent and ability is few and far between. Her music is styled after folk and adult alternative with funky effects that light the tunnel for us to see how good she really is.
Far from a reverent country-blues acolyte. Liz Zorn puts the tradition through a worldly wringer. Singing with a measure of sensual swing and accompanied by what sounds like a didgeridoo on Giddy Up Baby.
