Glenn Roscoe has been endowed with special musical abilities. He exemplified his ability to play the piano at the age of three and at the age of six his parents Dr.
Frances L. Waters and William H. Waters, II, enrolled him in The Johns Hopkins Peabody Preparatory School of Music. He mastered the dexterity and technical techniques needed to perform intricate classical works on both the piano and organ and furthered his abilities to sing, play the violin, guitar, trumpet, trombone, French horn, percussions, and cello. He later attended The Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory where he received his Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in piano and Towson State University, where he received his Master’s degree in Choral Conducting.
Mr. Roscoe has won several piano and vocal competitions. Mr. Roscoe has performed at the World Famous Apollo on numerous occasions in New York City, The Alice Tulley Hall Performing Arts Center in New York City, The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and The Julliard School of Music. He has performed with several gospel artists such as The World Renowned Clark Sisters, Albertina Walker, Richard Smallwood and The Smallwood Singers, Rev. Ernie Davis and The Wilmington Chester Mass Choir, Louise Candice Davis, The World Renowned Greene Sisters, Minister Jeff Jacobs and The International Praise Singers and is a guest pianist and soloist with The Morgan State University Concert Choir in addition to traveling across the world with The
Morgan State University Concert Choir under the baton of the late Dr. Nathan Carter.
He has sung for mayoral, gubernatorial and presidential events and played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra during its 1989 London tour. No matter how many accolades Mr. Roscoe receives, he never ceases to exalt, edify, and glorify the giver of gifts, so he carefully charted his spiritual endeavors. He has been serving as Minister of Music for several churches in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, Shady Grove Baptist Church, Carter Memorial C.O.G.I.C., Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, Cornerstone Church of God, Calvary Baptist Church, Unity United Methodist Church, Ames Memorial United Methodist Church during the past 25 years (while also working as a corporate auditor/analyst).
He has served as musical conductor for the Baptist Singing Men of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, Director of Music for the Maryland/Delaware Convention, adjunct professor of music at Baltimore County Community Colleges (BCCC) and full-time Minister of Music/Worship and Fine Arts at Colonial Baptist Church. He provides private music instructions in piano, organ, and voice. In view of the increasing budgetary constraints within the public school system which resulted in reduced funding for music programs, Mr. Roscoe has devoted his gifts of music and time to teaching and mentoring to young people who are talented and may not have the opportunity to pursue their interest in fine arts without his preceptorship. He has not limited himself to just teaching students at Colonial Baptist Church, but he reaches to the community to bring young people into the wonderful world of music. His youngest student is five and his most senior student is 65 years old. His exuberance bubbles and splashes over all who encounter him.
One of his gifted students remarked, " I want to play just like him." What a marvelous testimony to the impact of a personal life than to have others desire to emulate you. Mr. Roscoe’s outreach to youth and young men and young ladies provide creative avenues that keeps them out of dangerous enticements that find many of our youth on the
corners or in harm’s way. His music mentorship taps their talents and gives them a sense of self worth.
Mr. Roscoe was selected in 1979 to be published in Who’s Who in Music, a book that can be found in most libraries. Mr. Roscoe has received numerous awardsand citations for his outstanding leadership and performances. Currently, Mr. Roscoe is completing
studies for his doctorate of music and arts in addition to working towards another degree in Bible college.
