ABOUT WILL McBRIDE:
Guitarist/Songwriter backed by keys, drums, bass and other instruments. Jazz-injected pop/rock/funk. Jazz/pop singer/songwriter/guitarist in Raleigh NC area. Will is originally from Atlanta where he worked as sound engineer at the Agora Ballroom, played in several party bands and wrote music. He moved to Wilmington, NC where he decided he needed to record and perform his original music. It was then that the group THE QUICK was formed and Will’s first release "Dynamic Proportions" was written, arranged and produced. Less than 3 years later Will moved to the Raleigh NC area where he lives now. Will has just completed by 2nd release "As Yet...", which was also almost completely written, produced, and arranged by Will.
MUSICIANS I’VE PERFORMED WITH:
The late St. Claire Pinkney (sax man for James Brown, Godfather of soul) - Will was part of St. Claire’s solo work in the late 80’s.
Sam Bryant (Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s drummer) - was the drummer in THE QUICK.
Tim Brailsford (Voltage Brother’s music director) - was the keyboardist in THE QUICK.
Danny Pera (Berklee School of music trained) - was the bassist in THE QUICK.
Carl Sinkler (Dr. of Music, SC State University) - was the sax player in THE QUICK.
John Cashwell (1999 GMA Songwriting Contest National champion) - plays and sings on the new "As Yet..." CD.
Kara Chiles - Wilmington Morning Star Sept 1992 "Will McBride is flexible...His band THE QUICK plays anything jazz. He’s willing to experiment...which might be why THE QUICK is developing a following".
Cris Putnam - The Beat Magazine, year 2 edition 4 "a welcome kick-in-the-pants to Wilmington’s ...market. The strong vocals and positive lyrics give this music real pop-crossover potential without diminishing the high level of musicianship... Will McBride proves to be a sterling guitarist, songwriter, and arranger."
Marc Matney - Encore Magazine, "...top-notch musicianship on display here. THE QUICK - another shining facet in the amazing music scene in the Port City".
The Beat Magazine, year 1 edition 12, "Their own unique sound...is multifaceted and dynamically structured. "Dynamic Proportions" is filled with songs of optimism, upbeat arrangements..."
Spectator Magazine, Oct 28, 1993, "Guitarist McBride lays down some sweet electric sounds, with more rock influences than the more traditional jazz language used often for guitar."
