Who is Versatyle?
Straight out the Dirty comes female Hip Hop producer/singer/lyricist, Versatyle (pronounced Versatile) a.k.a. Boss Lady. The Louisiana native started rapping at the age of 12. As a lyricist, she is well known for her sometimes humorous, but often mind-boggling stories of life and its unpredictable twists and turns. She is the realest female lyricist since the days of Lyte and Latifah.
Her influences range from R&B legends such as, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Roberta Flack, Betty Wright and the Staple Singers to Hip-hop moguls, LL Cool J, Rakim, Nas, Tupac, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, and MC Lyte. These influences are continuously shown through Versatyle’s jazzy yet eclectic lyrical flow laced with her somewhat soulful vocals. As a writer/producer, the 70’s musical movement once again shapes her creativity. Her musical production influences include Swiss Beats, Mannie Fresh, Timberland & Missy Elliott. These influences are enveloped with the musical inspirations of Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, The Ohio Players, Earth Wind & Fire, etc.
When asked what she believes she could contribute to the Hip Hop game, the recent MBA graduate explains, "Business and Marketing strategies, and needless to say my musical talent. I’ve loved music all my life. It would be foolish of me to consider not merging my love for Hip Hop with the business sense that I’ve accumulated and subsequently, take advantage of the opportunities given to me. This is the foundation that my company, MFJ Entertainment, is based on."
Versatyle has produced and featured on several tracks for local artists and shows her flexibility on the song, Impekable, which is featured on Fiend’s recent project, Can I Burn 2. Those who have had the opportunity to work with Versatyle refer to her as, ’The Missy Elliott of the Dirty Dirty’ because of her unique creativity and versatility. It is safe to say that her name puts it all into
