TIM - ’MISSPELLED MARQUEE’

Through several incarnations over the last few years, the true essence of TIM, the band, was found with the current three-man line up of brothers Tim (lead vocalist & guitar) & Matt Bader (bass) along with Leslie Van Trease (on drums). Together in this form since 2003, TIM has performed countless gigs on the LA circuit including appearances at The House of Blues (600+ cap.) & venues such as The Viper Room. However, although based in Southern California (Los Angeles), the individual members of the band find there polar opposite roots back in the North/ Southeast of the US. Both Tim & Matt had made their separate ways out to LA via Philadelphia, PA back in the late 90s, while Les moved west to SoCal from his deep seeded, cultural Gulf roots of Mobile, Alabama.

The joining of this three-some has led to the most frequently asked question about the band: Why just TIM? The answer is quite simple: no one had been able to spell ’Bader’!
During the days when Tim Bader was performing as a solo, acoustic artist... for seven consecutive gigs, the club (and the ’Misspelled Marquees’) was never able to spell ’Bader’ correctly. Every time using their own creative spelling & inflection.... The last straw for Tim was the French twist on the marquee that one night... Baedoure. That put the days of ’Tim Bader’ behind him, and gave birth to the easy, palatable name: TIM. It had also given birth to the concept behind the band’s debut album ’Misspelled Marquee’.

TIM’s timeline of events includes many opening slots for bands such as: Matchbox Twenty, No Doubt, The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones, Howie Day, & 311. They also have thousands of lost demos, twice that many bad photos, some fast (and no so fast for that matter...) managers, and a ton of ’almost’ record deals. This series of events and stories along with many others from a fabled past is now embodied for ever on TIM’s new record.
Tim Bader may also be recognized from his string of nationally televised commercials or from his reoccurring role on Howard Stern’s radio & TV show. Les & Matt are no strangers to the airwaves either, as the two of them have also appeared on the WB’s ’Smallville’ & some sit in performances on the late night TV circuit (Leno, Letterman, etc.)

Produced by Jeff Cain (formally of Remy Zero), ’Misspelled Marquee’ is a foray in to the times and tribulations of the band. A collection of songs such as: "Only You & I, Try Again Soon & Attention were all captured on record by Jeff’s creative vision, in their true essence... light, raw, beautiful and timeless... These (along with the 10 others on the album) are songs meant for TV, film & life.
It was Jeff who helped bring the members of ’TIM’ together back in the beginning, and he was the only natural choice to help bring this collection of songs together on one album.

Drawing from the member’s diverse individual backgrounds of musical taste, ’Misspelled Marquee’ is a fine collection of heartfelt lyrics rooted in American, guitar rock. Tim has a unique gift to deliver these straightforward lyrics, while his hooky guitar tells the other half of the story. Matt anchors one song after the next with driving bass lines and Les on drums plays with an explosiveness that belies his easy-going Southern manner.
