The Low Whistles are considered one of the most haunting instruments being played today, not only in the Celtic world, but the world throughout. Many styles have taken up the Low Whistle because of its Mystical Qualities! Even Jazz players are incorporating them into their music! The truth is, the low whistle has been around for thousands of years well before the recent celtic boom! in the middle -east and elsewhere the choice material was and still is, BAMBOO. However, the celtic world has probably made this instrument more popular than anyone in recent years using modern technology!

The New-Age World has also seen the Low Whistle’s performance on many albums. Its popularity is enormous! One such album is: "Tears of the Forest(Mystical Journey". This album has a very uniquely reflective background appeal. The Artist is Talbert St. Claire. Being a self-taught musician, Talbert says, "It’s an album that blends together Celtic slow-airs along with the instrumentations of Eastern India, Native American, environmental elements, various synthesizers, Acoustic Guitars, Bass Guitars and various other effects." All of these elements strongly support the soulful and haunting approach to the overall theme. Talbert began playing the Low Whistles years ago after hearing Davy Spillane perform with them! Talbert & Davy Spillane have become good friends over the years.


This album has given Talbert the chance to demonstrate his own personal style and creativity in using the Low Whistles! He quotes, "I love traditional Irish music. Yet, being part African-American and part Scottish, the New Age palate really appeals to me. Also, in recording this album I wanted To produce something that demonstrated the "emotions" behind the Low Whistle’s, rather than a fully layered recording with lots of backing! A "simple" album with lots of feeling was the "sole" purpose for " Tears Of The Forest". Meditative in nature, but definitely, SOULFUL!!)"


The album features a Bonus track - "The Hollow Ashplant". This is an Irish/Hip-Hop/Reggae piece that’s very Jazzy. All instrumental and a totally relaxed groove! A very cool Celtic sound with lots of funk on top!! An awesome BONUS TRACK!

"Tears of the Forest" also features various ranges of Low Whistles in different keys! As Talbert replies. "Using various keys even on the same track can change the entire mood of the music. Therefore, I wanted to demonstrate this because of its Emotional Qualities." He also says, "Many musicians tend to concentrate on the jigs and reels and avoid the slow airs, which is the heart and soul of Irish music." Talbert prefers capturing the emotions rather than the speed! He feels that if "Tears of the Forest" moves you, his personal journey is completed. Happy listening!!

Talbert is also available for live performance. Recently, his Celtic/New Age sound has captivated a massive audience in the "YOGA" industry world wide!
