Weitere Informationen vom Distributor:
The Sundogs are a four piece rock n roll band from Atlanta, Georgia, built around the vocal and songwriting talent of brothers Will and Lee Haraway. Their sound is a melodic and ballsy take on Americana roots music that rings the truest when the two brothers are singing clear, blood harmony over crunchy Fender chords along with pyrotechnics from lead guitarist Matt Ulmer. With a nod to their earliest influences, The Sundogs call their sound NO DEPRESSION ROCK N ROLL.
In 2004 The Sundogs released, BB Gun Days, a record that rocks like the Black Crowes or George Thorogood in spots but also touches on the boys’ country influences, allowing Lee’s pedal steel guitar and the brothers’ clear vocal style to give the record a warm, comfortable feel. The songs are written entirely by Will and Lee Haraway and are a chronicle of where their music started and the places it continues to take them and the listener.
While The Sundogs love big reverb and Matt’s wah solos, the bombast doesn’t get in the way of the Haraways’ soaring melody lines and harmony that make the songs beautiful and memorable. The boys come alive onstage, playing high energy shows that showcase their original sound as well as reworkings from the music of their childhood like Creedence, The Stones and The Band.
Will and Lee grew up in Millington, TN, just outside of Memphis, and learned to sing using their parents’ stellar record collection. The White Album, Live from Folsom Prison, High Tide and Green Grass, Willy and the Poor Boys and Flatt & Scruggs Live at Vanderbilt were just some of the albums that made the brothers’ childhood setlist. When the two started playing together in Oxford, MS- these influences kept creeping into their own music, along with the distinct Northern Mississippi sound of folks like Beanland and Blue Mountain as well as Memphians Big Ass Truck. It was here that they met Jackson Mississippi native Matt Ulmer, who was quickly gaining a reputation as a highly original lead guitarist, first with Southgate and later with the Charlie Mars Band.
Matt had just finished his stint with the Mars Band in Atlanta, Georgia when the Haraway brothers- who had also relocated to the Peach state- reconnected with their old friend to add to the new sound that the brothers were putting together around their songwriting. Matt’s fierce Strat solos and innate feel for connecting with a crowd added to Lee’s biting Telecaster and chemistry with bassist Will- making Matt a dramatic addition to the band that continues to this day.
The Sundogs are:
Lee Haraway- vocals, electric and pedal steel guitar
Will Haraway- vocals, bass, acoustic guitar
Matt Ulmer- vocals, wild electric guitar
-with-
Kevin Leahy- drums, percussion, mandolin
Andrew Hanmer- powerhouse drums
