Weitere Informationen vom Distributor:
Spray consists of two people. Jenny sings. Ricardo provides musical accompaniment. They have recorded a number of songs. Some have been popular chart hits. Some haven’t. They have been on Top Of The Pops and made expensive videos in places like Catford and Arizona. They refuse to play live, but are willing to be persuaded otherwise.
The Tedious Detail:
In 1999, Ric and Jenny took a whirlwind rollercoaster ride from making home demos on a 4-track to hanging out with Steps and S Club 7 at the Xmas Top Of The Pops studio. This was as part of the top 5 hit success of ’The Hamsterdance’ by the Cuban Boys, written and initially produced in a fit of boredom in Spray Studios that February. In 2000, however, the rollercoaster stalled a bit, and despite trying out conventional rock things like "gigging" and "making an album" the Cuban Boys vanished from the pop radar fairly rapidly.
In 2001 Spray hooked up with Ninthwave Records in the US and in 2002 released the CD ’Living In Neon’. It scored immediate critical acclaim and sold astonishingly well, breaking out of the darkwave/electroclash niche and crossing over to mainstream America. In that same mainstream Ric and musical collaborator Daz hooked up with Glen Campbell for a 21st century revamp of ’Rhinestone Cowboy’ which topped charts worldwide and brought Glen back to the UK top 20 for the first time in a quarter of a century. In 2003, Daz and Ric, with Jenny on vocals, attempted to invent the world’s most fearsome kids band (the Barndance Boys) - and scored a chart hit for their troubles.
During 2003 ’I Am Gothic’, one of the standout cuts on ’Living In Neon’ was becoming a truly huge goth floorfiller across America and - by now - Europe as well. A remix package of the song was issued as a single in summer 2003, and consequently ’I Am Gothic’ is about to begin it’s third successive year as one of the most genuinely popular electro club anthems in the world.
Now, two years in and with a new album being put together in a "lazy and half-arsed" manner, Spray remain top selling alternative electro heroes, and the number 1 alternative dance choice on US radio.
