This song was written over the Thanksgiving holiday just days after Kenny and his kids had "chased Clay" (yes, that’s American Idol star Clay Aiken) in the Raleigh Christmas parade! He recorded it that Saturday and on the following Monday, just 15 minutes after dropping it off at WRAL FM (Mix 101.5)in Raleigh, it was on the air!! This was followed by local news media coverage of the song and of Kenny’s attempt to get another of his songs into Clay’s hands! Then the Clay fans worldwide started talking about it on the Clay message boards and began emailing Kenny for copies. Folks from all over the U.S. have contacted him about this song. One Claymaniac said she and her friends always listen to "Chasing Clay" on their way to Clay’s concerts.
By the way, Kenny DID manage to get to Clay’s mom, Faye, at the end of the parade! He gave mom a CD of "Where Feelings Go" saying ’here’s Clay’s next hit’. No plans in store just yet for Clay to sing one of Kenny’s songs, but in the meantime we can all enjoy hearing his tale of ’galloping through the gaggle’ trying to keep up with the multi-platinum artist!
(note: these are recorded on cd-r’s, but should play on nearly all cd players. Contact Kenny via his website if not)
Kenny’s been performing in the southeast U.S. for the past 20 years at colleges, clubs, cafes, hospitals, schools... you name it! His songwriting covers a wide range of styles--rock, folk, pop, blues, country, and reggae! That’s why he calls it "Psychopopfolkabilly"!
