James Reeno is a bonafide "Native New Yorker" (just like the song says).
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, he was hugely influenced by all the great disco, funk, soul, & early 80’s club music & electro that was coming out of New York at the time (even though this music was coming out of everywhere else under the sun as well)

The early 80’s funk/electro made the biggest impression on him, although it took about 20 years for him to fully realize it!

He started playing the drums in his teens, which led up to him taking up an interest in keyboards and production/engineering.

His latest cd, "Funk it up", is a 6-track EP featuring 3 vocal tracks, along with 3 instrumentals.
His influences (Prince, D-train, Paul Hardcastle, Herbie Hancock, Phil Collins) are quite evident in all his productions, and these songs are no exception.

On "Funk it up", the listener is treated to funky soundscapes created by vintage analog synthesizers, chunky rhythm guitars, and a very effective use of tasteful drum programming combined with live percussion & hi-hats.

Reeno feels that most of these elements are severely lacking in today’s music, and is certain that you will agree....
