"It’s pretty simple stuff". Basic chords, simple guitar work . . . and the words of the Authorized King James Bible.

It’s called "Scripturerock", bluesy/alternative style music consisting solely of scriptural lyrics. At first it sounds like it might be an odd mix but for well over 5 years Nahum (aka Brian Taraz) has been working the material at open mikes, bars, wherever and finding that the language and the style of this "ancient" text comes as a welcome contemporary surprise to audience members. And they don’t need to be "believers". Just people.

Taraz, a New York native who adolesced and grew up in San Diego, rejects the idea that the music is "Christian" or "praise" music. It’s about the language, the lyricism and the universal impact and potency these words have for all people.

Besides, it’s a ton of fun doing a funk version of the ten commandments and a country version of Habakkuk.
Heck, its just plain old fun saying the name Habakkuk.
