Charles Moman is a veteran elementary music teacher, composer, photographer and worship leader. He is a worship leader at Community Church of Columbus, Indiana where he sings, plays acoustic guitar and writes praise music for worship services. The album "God has a Plan" is reflective of his contemporary worship songs and solos written over the past five years.
Charles writes songs for both corporate worship as well as solos and duets.
Worship leaders will find several songs on the CD to be very "congregational friendly" - in other words - easy for a congregation to learn and sing. There is a lot of great worship music out there, but some of it is too difficult for the average church praise band to pull off. "God Has a Plan" has songs that I know are "accessible" and meaningful for the average church to use.
The project was recorded in the summer of 2004, at Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana. The studio is owned by gospel legends, Bill and Gloria Gaither. It is a great studio with talented staff, great gear and a small town friendly environment. I spent nine weeks at the studio while on a Lilly Teacher Fellowship project. The recording of "God has a Plan" was the final element of his project. All of the songs are original compositions I wrote, with three being co-written with his good friend, Lea Johnson. The CDs were manufactured at DiscMakers - I highly recommend them!
I was a participant in the first-ever Integrity Music Songwirter’s Retreat in the summer of 2003. I had a great time, learned a lot and was able to sing one of my songs for Don Moen, the Dean of contemporary worship music. OK, so Don did not sign me to a contract with Integrity, but he did sing back part of "Somebody Told Me His Name" and said "you know Charles, it IS very catchy". I took that as a compliment, meaning the song would stay with people.
