FROM BACKGROUND SINGER TO CENTER STAGE! Mikki has toured the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Japan singing background for such notable artists as Patti Labelle, Phyllis Hyman, Miles Jaye, Johnathan Butler and Regina Belle.
She has also performed as a backing vocal on stage and on recordings with Stevie Wonder,Brian McKnight, Will Downing, Grover Washington Jr., Nancy Wilson, Kenny Latimore, Teddy Pendegrass, Shirley Ceasar, Yolanda Adams, The Gabriel Hardeman Delegation, The Barry Sames Jazz Ensemble, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Gerald Levert, Pieces of a Dream, Gearld Veasely, Bryant Pugh and more.
When Reggie White made his movie "Reggie’s Prayer," He enlisted Mikki to sing on the soundtrack for the movie. She also accompanied Reggie to the projects when he held street crusades with some of the other Philadelphia Eagles.
Mikki also stretched her range of talents as an actress and performed to rave reviews at the Philadelphia Freedom Theatre in the play "Calling Out Your Name."
Mikki has appeared on TV shows such as The Today Show on NBC, Arsenio Hall, The Magic Hour, Motown Live, The Home Show, Good Morning South Africa. Radio and TV commercials include: Budget Rent a Car, The Pennsylvania Lottery, Commerce Bank, The NBC Christmas jingle, singing lead and background on Richard Simmons excercise videos and several more.
Mikki graduated from Zion Bible College where her area of study was Christian Education. She later furthered her studies in Special Education and utilized music therapy as a major tool in behavior modification techniques while implementing individual programs for autistic youths and other areas of special needs.
Mikki began singing on the streets with her sister as a prelude to her father’s fiery street preaching. "We sang in prisons, on street corners and the people would flock to hear us." After her marriage to Glenn, he suggested she record a project and booked the studio. "The owner/engineer was so impressed he began recommending me for sessions, thus began my professional career as a singer."
Mikki’s influences range from Donny Hathaway,Valerie Simpson (who played piano and sang in church like I did),Minnie Riperton to The Emotions. "Oh my God, when I heard the Emotions for the first time, I called my mother and said, "Mommy please, just one more sister! That’s all I need!!" (Luckily I got a first cousin out of the deal) These influences can certainly be heard on GIVE ME A SIGN. (co-produced with the help of Producer Rich Waller) Mikki has received rave reviews for her latest endeavor. She has been named Artist of the Month on several websites.
She uses her gifts as a writer, producer and arranger to sing the music she grew up singing, gospel. "Gospel is what I know best. Its music that God can use to reach the lost and change lives."
