Laurie’s unique voice has led her through a life of music, including tours across the US and Europe and attendance at Berklee College of Music. Growing up in a musical family, she began singing at the age of 8 and went on to play a variety of musical instruments. It wasn’t until after high school that she stumbled upon the acoustic guitar and began crafting songs.

Laurie’s songwriting tells a story much in the tradition of some of her main folk influences: James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King. Her music has taken on a more rock/pop edge through her interest in artists like Paula Cole, Ben Folds, and Ani Difranco.

The album "Life Is Made Of" was a cross-continental project beginning in a friend’s house in Connecticut and ending two years later at Gravel Voice studios in Seattle. A portion of the drum tracks were kept from the original recording sessions and the rest were accomplished through mail correspondence. From there everything else was layered on top in Seattle over the course of a year. All of these seemingly difficult challenges surrounding the album ended up working in its favor. "Every single delay in recording gave the album a new tone and feel. There was so much room to re-work and latch onto new ideas." (LKC) What came from these 2 years of hard work is a gem that represents the musical journey that Laurie has been through thus far. It will be exciting to see what comes next for her.
