Hello, my name is Lance Howard Mayes. My family and I live in Fresno California. My wife and I are the worship leaders at Little Church In The Pines in Bass Lake California. Rise Up is my first album with a focus on the encouragement of Christ’s body for a fresh release into the battlefield of evangelism empowered by dependence on the Holy Spirit.
The past 10 years God has done an intimacy move in worship - inner courts. He has called His church back to His heart. With a renewed mentality of dependence on Him and a heart that has His desire, we can now move forward into spiritual warfare more accurately than ever before. Accuracy comes from yieldedness to the Holy Spirit through intimacy. He is now calling His body back into the outer courts with an inner court anointing.
Spiritual warfare involves breaking strongholds over people’s minds - outer courts. These strongholds are lies regarding who God is and His purpose for our life. Through worship, prayer, actions and words, this battle is two-fold. One, freeing the unbeliever from the spirit of this world that has blinded their mind from seeing Jesus as The Savior (evangelism) and, two, keeping the believer’s mind, emotions and choices free from attack and filled with God’s thoughts, desires and will to fulfill His calling (edification, exhortation and comfort).
Our offensive weapon is God’s Word of truth spoken by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This inspired Word is specifically designed by the Holy Spirit as we yield to Him and released according to the need of the moment to give grace to those who hear. (Eph. 4:29 NAS) These acts of warfare, as mentioned above, are inspired actions as well as words. Example: A cup of cold water in My Name.
About The Cover:
What looks like the word NIPS written in the sand is the name of the album "Rise Up" in Hebrew. Technically it translates "arise". "l’chum" is the transliteration from the Hebrew. It is pronounced lekhoom. With the kh pronounced in the throat as if you were clearing it.
The picture is of a baby’s hand (I used my son Benjamin’s hand) taking hold of a shofar, a rams horn. Israel used the shofar for many things including summoning the people attention to hear the Word of the Lord or to rally the people to battle.
"From the mouth of infants and nursing babes Thou hast established strength, because of Thine adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful cease."
Psalm 8:2 NAS
In the New American Standard Bible, the word strength has the number 1 by it referencing the Bulwark as an interchangeable word for strength.
Bulwark - 1. A solid wall-like structure RAISED for defense. Rampart. Breakwater, Seawall. 2. A strong support or protection. 3. The side of a ship above the upper deck. 4. To fortify or safeguard.
An infant’s cry is in total dependence on their parent for everything. When we "RISE UP" with a cry of total dependence on God, the battle belongs to the Lord, and He wins our battles for us.
We stand still and see the "Salvation of our God".
"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God."
I Corinthians 1:26-29 NAS
"’Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts." Zechariah 4:6b NAS
It’s not a picture of a strong solder’s hand, but an infant’s hand. It’s not trying to do God’s Will in our own understanding, but crying out to Him, listening for His guidance and RISING UP in obedience to what the Holy Spirit reveals through His Word.
