Kymera is an original band from California that effectively fuses rock, funk, and reggae by employing a wide variety of song structures, hypnotic funk grooves, psychedelic jam sessions and energetic performances.
"A frighteningly talented trio... living proof that genius is real" says Brad Sanders of the Musician Times.
"A group whose sound seamlessly flows through rock, reggae, jazz and funk, achieving musical mastery you would expect to see on a world wide stage" writes Kirk Parker from Poets Not Presidents.
Kymera recently finished their first full-length album "Confusion Said..." after 4 months of production, which combines much of the material written and performed during the first two years as a band. The album flows through many creative concepts, equally separating the mixed into defined movements.
Kymera began early 2003 as collaboration between DK (guitars/vocals) and Steve Dominguez(drums). Searching for a fresh approach on style and songwriting, they began writing music individually drawing from each other’s unique voices and creative expressions. They soon realized that a third member was needed to complete the sound. DK found him when he ran into an old band mate Robert Turner(bass). The immediate chemistry and creativity between the three was undeniable and the trio was complete.
Kymera is very ethnically diverse with a Latino/Australian drummer, a Zambian singer, and a White bassist.
Kymera means: a creature described in Greek mythology as a beast with the head of a lion, body of a goat and serpents tail. Also described as the fusing of 2 or more gene pools of different composition, producing a new species. Kymera is true to the name, performing material written by each member and truly representing an equal portion of the whole.
