Key Of Dreams... the dynamic new jazz guitar duo is Abe Wirth and Eric Schultheis. Intelligent and thought provoking, the melodies are embedded in lush, sonic soundscapes resulting from a seamless integration of Eric and Abe’s guitars, which are sure to captivate the senses of even the most discriminating listener.
Eric and Abe were introduced by mutual friend Kenny Lavitz while sitting-in at a local blues club in Portland Oregon. Instantly recognizing the musical chemistry, they began playing, writing, recording and performing together at many local venues and private engagements throughout the area.
Upon the independent (Small Forest Records) release of their self-titled, debut CD, Key Of Dreams began receiving FM and Internet radio airplay as well as local and international sales and distribution.
Key Of Dreams’ repertoire consists of 36 original, instrumental compositions, which are performed on acoustic guitars (classical and steel string) or, on a mix of electric and electric-acoustic guitars to fit the occasion and/or the mood of the audience as well as that of the musicians.
Their sound and style are unique; drawing from many types of music including traditional and new jazz, rock, classical, Hawaiian Slack Key, Flamenco and funk. "We’ve been told we sound like Pat Metheny, Joe Satriani, Barry Flanagan and Alan Parsons, to name a few. We’re not trying to sound like anyone else, or any particular style of music for that matter; we just play and let it happen, which is very cool because there are really no boundaries. We can change the tempo, timing, tuning, key and overall feel whenever we want, and we do!"
Attacking their fretboards with a love for musical creation and respect for their mutual strengths, Abe and Eric go forth into the musical unknown.
From the duo’s inception, their creative purpose is to enjoy, let the music form itself, and hope that others enjoy as well.
