GLORY: "TRUSTING IN GOD" is a musical journey through early America as experienced in the hearts and souls of African Americans. Songs like "Morning Train" and "Wade in the Water" illustrate the desire to be free, to return home to Africa. "Trust In the Lord" and "Stand By Me" are great examples of the faith African Americans held on to while going through some of the most troubled times in this country. "It's Gonna be All Right" illustrates the undying faith and determination to get to the place where things truly will be alright. Take a trip with us and enjoy our jazz-blues-R&B-gospel sound that leaves you inspired, spiritually uplifted and wanting more. GOSPEL IN THE SOUTHERN TRADITION
MEET GLORY, ordained by God and held together by the unifying strength of our belief in one God, this unlikely trio has been together for seven years. Tamir Mubarak, Herbert Sulaman and Bill Nelson are Glory. As the names imply, we are one Christian and two Islamic brothers forming a gospel group. We hope that our union will be a light to others who love God and believe in the brotherhood of all mankind. Glory, for the past six years has been headlining the Gospel Brunch at the HOUSE OF BLUES in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Planning a trip to South Carolina? Catch our show at the House of Blues every Sunday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
TAMIR of Conway, South Carolina, plays all the woodwinds and the banjo. His musical training is in classical music, jazz, and music theory. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Band and received his Bachelor's of Art's degree from the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina. When not playing with Glory, Tamir and Herbert are Jazz Etc., a charming and sophisticated duo whose musical repertoire includes the compositions of some of yesterday's and today's greatest jazz innovators, along with a special selection of original compositions.
HERBERT of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, plays keyboard and saxophone. He studied classical music at Appalachian State University. He became interested in Jazz piano in New York City where he played for a number of years. Herbert is responsible for that electrifying sound that underlines our music and energizes the house each Sunday at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach.
BILL of Marion County, South Carolina, is Glory's lead vocalist. Singing since the age of twelve Bill has developed a style that is all his own. His anointed, smooth, strong, baritone-tenor voice takes you to a place and time of inner peace and spiritual fulfillment. He received his Bachelor's of Art's degree from McMurry University in Abilene Texas. His musical background extends from the church to the stage, from New York to California and beyond, from PBS specials to made for television movies for network television. He has worked with such greats as Alex Bradford of "Your Arms Too Short", Vinnette Carroll of "Urban Arts Corp", Leon Lumpkins and the "Gospel Clefts" (two recordings), Chapman Roberts, Debra Mitchel, Yvette Glover , Sandra Reeves Phillips of "Lean on Me", the fabulous Ms Jean Cheek and many, many others. Bill is a South Carolina Artist in Resident and teaches African American history through music and drama.
