The primary and spiritual sources of his music come from such activists as Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Angela Davis. Darryl has been welcomed and received as a solo acoustic artist in various venues throughout the United States. Fresh off a captivating 40-city NACA college tour, the BMI published artist, is described as "introspective and reflective with the ability to share life's meanings and mysteries with his audience."
