Komplettes MP3 Album von Coilback
Kurz-Beschreibung von CDbaby: Described by many sources as a mix of old-school metal with a modern aggressive sound. Many say it's the perfect blend of Kill Em All era Metallica and White (Rob) Zombie. Heavy but melodic with an "in your face" style.
Käufer, die sich für (Metallica White Zombie Tool) interessieren sollten sich dieses Album anhören.
Weitere Informationen vom Distributor:
Founded in 2001, Coilback has gone though a diverse and ever evolving journey through
sound, visuals, and even members. Coilback's founding member, Lew Morris, came from a band called
"Liquor Goat," along with former Coilback member Vlad Cadillac. Together, they sought to blend
a seamless fusion of "Old School" songwriting techniques reminiscent of classic bands such as
Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Doors and The Rolling Stones with "New School" aggression and power
in the music that can be found in bands such as Metallica, White (Rob) Zombie, Korn, Marilyn Manson,
Slipknot, Killswitch Engage and of course, Pantera.
Lew's lyrical style puts an emphasis on the meaning of the lyrics, while the band's writing style, as a
whole, creates music with intense dynamics and "quick to catch" hooks. The result is a unique sound
that immediately feels familiar to the listener, yet is entirely different at the same time.
In 2003, Coilback released their first recorded work on a self-titled, self-produced EP. The EP contained
five tracks (four of which would later be re-recorded for the "Love is Dead" album) and was recorded on
a small budget, in a quick amount of time, within a couple of weeks of the drummer, Steven Green's arrival
in the band. Despite all this, the songwriting and dynamics shined through and many were
immediately taken by the music and were eager for a full length release. This release came on August, Friday the 13th, 2004 with the title, "Love is Dead."
The "Love is Dead" album presented the band in a more complete light and was once again,
self-produced (even the artwork was created by the members of the band) by Coilback's DIY label,
Shadowmorph Music. This twelve ( + one bonus ) track album contained four of the songs re-recorded
from the EP and eight more originals. The bonus track, "Don't Stay," was recorded on a never released
album by Lew's former band, Liquor Goat in 2001. Many feel this track showcases Lew's diverse vocal
style and captures a Jim Morrison type feel. The rest of the tracks were written over the course of a
few months while Coilback played live. If the songs didn't pass the "live test," they were not recorded.
Many reviewers and fans described the album as a mix of old, Kill 'Em All era, Metallica with White Zombie.
This blend created a wide range of appeal and created many new fans for the band. Tracks that stand out
among fans and critics are "Love is Dead," "Take It From Me," "Let Me Go," and "Hate Me."
Coilback also fine tuned their live performance. Not only did the music capture the
attention of many an audience member, the stage production caught and entertained the eye as well.
Not content to just "show up and play," Coilback invested time, energy and money into giving the
audience a "full show," complete with stage visuals and plenty of energy and aggression.
The end of 2004 brought forth another major change, the exit of Vlad Cadillac (due to relocation) and
the entrance of two new members - Eddie Johnson and John Navarro. This expanded Coilback into a
four piece and thickened the already heavy sound even more. Eddie and John, both adding their own
flavor to older tunes as well as helping to create new ones, have given the band an extra "bite," that
captures the attention of many fans & critics alike.
While Coilback is shopping around for a possible label, they are still content to continue working
as a DIY (Do It Yourself) band and enjoy the creativity it allows. Not only do the members of
Coilback write all the songs, they also design and create the artwork for the CDs, merchandise as well
as the website.
Coilback is now currently working on new tracks for yet another upcoming album as well as
expanding their live performances to areas they haven't had the chance to visit. Their live show
is something not to be missed and the new songs have already shown to pass the "live test,"
with flying colors.
This band has had a vast internet interest and is poised to explode out of the local scene to become a national act soon. Don't miss your chance to grab this CD while they are still an independent group !! More info, pics and tracks at http://www.coilback.com
