After four albums, four hundred shows in fifty states, and four and half years as teenagers in the nationally distributed indie-rock band "spooky tuesday"(1995-2000), Kevin and Jessica Penner decided to break away and form the pop/rock trio "chandelle". The band was complete after the addition of Mandee Duyanen (bass) in 2001. The self titled album was written and recorded in 2003 in a makeshift garage studio by the band and friend/producer Travis Saunders. Within days of receiving the finished product chandelle's song "Alaska" won top honors at BMI's "Kauai Music Festival" landing the band a showcase in Manhattan and a spot on one of BMI's yearly "new music samplers".
Reviewers have compared the music to artists like U2, Radiohead, Jimmy Eat World, and The Sundays. More recently, songs from the self-titled album have been featured on buzzradio.com, and NPR's "open mic" show. Chandelle has moved from Kauai, Hawaii to Los Angeles where they are performing frequently and working on a new album in their home studio "the green bean" due to be self-released in spring, 2006.
