Bruce Lesnick, a graduate student of physics at the University of Washington, has been playing and writing music for over thirty years. His wife, Rachel Swerdlow, is a violist with the Seattle Symphony. Their triplet nine-year-old boys, Gabriel, Ruben and Sammy, were the inspiration for several songs on this album.
Lesnick is known for his irreverent, funny folk music style, and can often be seen performing at peace marches, anti-war protests and rallies for progressive causes throughout the Pacific Northwest. His music is insightful, inspiring and uncompromising, yet laced with original melodies and harmonies that you'll want to hear over and over again.
Thanks for listening. Please also check out Lesnick's "Firestorm" CD.
Track Notes For "It's All Relative"
1. Ruben Had a Blanket. A love song, but not about the love between two people. Rather, this is a tale about the love between a person and a thing.
2. Images. A look at what's really important, through wider and wider lenses.
3. Modern Physics in Five Easy Verses. Centuries of human discovery condensed into five verses. Excellent preparation for your next physics exam.
4. Unbroken Line. A father's advice and hopes for his son.
5. My Uncle is a Terrorist. A look at the September 11, 2001 events in the context of U.S. foreign policy.
6. Twilight. Instrumental guitar.
7. November Rag. A blues romp that takes a look at a "typical" candidate for political office.
8. The Game. Chess as a metaphor for life.
9. Nature's Called. A look at the unique challenges of being bald.
10. Couple Barrels More. This song asks the question, "How much more blood for oil?"
