Remember when singers, you know... SANG? "Lalala" not "gruntgruntgrunt" or "rapraprap" or today's favorite "whinewhinewhine". Yeah, we remember that, too. OH! Remember guitar solos? Nice, tasty guitar solos? Not that late 80's GIT "play really really fast with no point" kinda solo, but a solo that actually fits the song and tells a story, as well? Yeah, we like tasty solos. Lyrics... remember when lyrics told a story, with a beginning and an ending and didn't sound like someone's therapy session with rhymes? Song structure!! Who remembers when songs had more than 2 parts? (And no, having the guitars drop out while the bass plays the verse riff DOES NOT count as a 3rd part) Yep, we got lots of riffs and parts... and they all make sense!! So, if you remember singing, soloing, good story telling through lyrics and music then BY GOD YOU MUST BUY THIS ALBUM AND HELP 12:06 TAKE OVER!!!
OK, you've read this far... THANK YOU! If you want to know a bit about 12:06's history, keep on reading:
12:06 began with George O'Connor (guitar) turning to long time friend and occasional bandmate Jon Burnim (guitar) for help in fleshing out a group of songs he had for an album. As the songs and the story of 12:06 AM began to gel, the search for a voice began: enter Tracy O'Connor. Tracy was able to bring power and empathy to the story of 12:06 AM. A phone call was quickly placed to drummer Shawn McHatton. Shawn and George had played in a previous band together and kept in contact, waiting for the next opportunity to arise. The next piece to the puzzle was adding bassist Kyle Kydd (no, really, that's his real name), a veteran of several Boston-based bands. The first official gathering of the 12:06 members was January 2001 and their first gig in April 2001, and their subsequent outings, have been very successful as they look to grow and expand their fan base.
